what're the toughest questions you faced in a job interview?

listening to power 98 right now

http://www.power98.com.sg/

it is pretty interesting since they're sharing the toughest questions faced in job interviews
questions shared so far..
1) Tell me about your boss
2) Tell me about yourself
3) Why do you wish to work for us (for money? that not the best answer! )
4) What mini contribution do you think you can contribute to us in future? (FUTURE? hello?)

how about you? share the questions you faced !

for me,it will be "why do you wish to work us.." I always crashed it by saying money

Re: what're the toughest questions you faced in a job interview?

Number 4 is usually the toughest in my opinion. From there they will know whether you are a really good fit for the company.

Another possible difficult question is when they ask you if you read the news today, or ask you to give an assessment of a certain issue. They like to see ppl sweat and think on the spot...

Re: what're the toughest questions you faced in a job interview?

In my lifetime, I been interviewed for school I think 3 or 4 times, failed 1 but had to pick 1 school out of the rest. For job, I only had 1 which is my current one and only job with proper interview. The rest of my previous job, I didn't need to go through interview.

Base on 1 failed interview I realize that if just bombard the interviewer with sweet talking, which I'm pretty much good at it then your anus is save.

Re: what're the toughest questions you faced in a job interview?

It is pretty tough if they throw you a scenario and ask you how would you tackle and manage the issue if you were hired for the job you are interviewing for.

lol seriously?

Erm i just went thru an interview last week for the position of advertising executive. they ask me very specific questions on advertising, which I think I handled it well. (use all the marketing terminology)

the toughest question sld be: since u don't have advertising experience, why should we hire you?

I relate it to my strengths, what relevant my other experiences are and how my personality is a good fit with the company.

got the job on the spot with quite a decent pay. yay!

Re: what're the toughest questions you faced in a job interview?

So far, the hardest questions I have to answer even though I'm prepared for the job interview are:-

(1) Tell me about yourself.

I'm always prepared for this question. But there was once, the interviewer just look at me stonely, even after I have finished introducing myself. I asked what else she wanted to know about me after my brief introduction and she replied "What are your hobbies?" I'm like "...." oops I didn't really see it coming so I just give a brief range of stuffs I like to do without much emphasis. She didn't really seems pleased with my reply too.

(2) What do you think 'being ethical' means to you?

The most uncommon/toughest question I'd got so far. This question come with a couple of scenarios where I have to tell the interviewer how you will react if your immediate superior/officers ask you to perform a very minor exception that has a conflict of interest with the company as a whole.

(3) Tell me why I should pay you $xxxx when you're only currently earning $zzzz.

I always deem interviewer who tried to smash you with this question a f***er. I got this question like 2 times out of 10 interviews I had attended. Both interviewers are meanies, and the whole process for the interview didn't have a pleasant ending. I always thought this question is like asking you how much you can contribute to the company and why you're worth the money. But I'm wrong, they are just out to slash your expected salary. They wanted you but they also want to make sure they cut cost for the company at the same time.

They also starts to look cocky at the same time, pressuring you to lower a great margin from your expected salary. I once, took the interviewer down by asking her why she is not able to pay anywhere near my expected salary, yet called me down for interview after reading my resume. (p/s: she was offering me $600 lower than my expected & told me thats the best offer she can give for my skill sets & certificate, she made it clear that it wasn't really on negotiating terms).

My advice is, if you ever face this question like me. Dont give in easily because you need a job and/or better job. Patiently look for another employer that values your experience. ( But of course, look at the market as well )

Re: what're the toughest questions you faced in a job interview?

I not that scare when they ask me those personal question actually, i more scare when they ask me veri professional question..

I gana b4 once, the person ask me "What do u think of the current world economy now?".. "When do u think the economy will recover?"..."what do u think can be done to speed up the recovery."..."what do u know abt Free Trade Zone..."

Walau! I look at him with ???? in my eye sia..den bobian, anyhow boom....

N gana b4 those who ask veri veri academic stuff. Coz i accountancy person. Then they ask "My sales person send a quotation and the client send a sales confirmation in Nov 2000. Den the goods is deliver (DO) on the Dec 2000. Then we invoice them on Jan 2001. Then this sales shd be regarded as Nov 2000, Dec 2000 or Jan 2001 sales?". At that point of time, i blur, but i roughly know a bit, den i say "If i am not wrong, it depend on the days difference between the DO n SO date. Sales is deem to take place upon date of delivery unless the invoice is issue within 7 or 14 days (i dunno is 7 or 14) after delivery. If the invoice is issue within the timeframe, then the Invoice date is the date of sales, if not, then the DO date is deem as the sales date". Anyway, i aso dunno whether i am right or wrong.

Some ask me si bei theory thing like "what u know abt FRS" "Conceptual Framwork" etc... knn.... can die sia!!!!!!
