Yes, I feel that as hindus we should have more community-based projects. These projects should also involve the teenagers. At least the teens can also serve the community through religious organisations which will be the temples..what do you think??

Hi Lotusgal

I learned that you are interested to know about Hinduism. That would be a good opportunity to learn something from you. I too am interested in reading about Hinduism. I have some good reading suggestions if you'd like to read. Do reply if you are interested to share.

HI everyone. I've always wondered, is our religion henotheistic or pantheistic? I get really confused when one group says that all Gods and Goddesses are the various manifestations of one Almighty God when another says that all of them are separate and have varying degrees of power.... someone pls help =(

Default Re: Where Is The Indian ( Hindu)

thanks to eshthin pokey i learnt two new words today!!!

Pantheism is the view that the Universe (Nature) and God are identical or that the Universe is the only thing deserving the deepest kind of reverence

Henotheism mean worshipping a single god while accepting the existence or possible existence of other deities

what i think is that hiduism has both facets ....... by using deities and human representation to relate to the universal energy, humans are able to direct thier attention and tune to the right frequency..... for a person who has a very lound voice in their head which runs at thousand thoughts a minute..... bringing a form and a story behind the form directs thier attention and reduces their number of thoughts per minute..... it brings them to a state of low thoughts as well as directing to the energy represented by that form....

if you are a tamil , there is this song ,on ganesha...i came upon it by chance on you tube.... (
) ... its the real explanation of the ganesha song sung by yogis back in their heydays...... the ganesha took the form of an elephant becuase in deep meditative visualisation the muladhara chakra looks like an elephant with a trunk... it is also the chakra which locks up with fantasies and opens when you accept reality..... fantasies ranigng from sexual to expectations of the world around you.... so ganesha took the form of an elephant because of the chakra.. and the story around him says he is a strict celibate... very powerful...etc..... so there is the direction that it has something to do with sexual fantasies and overcoming fantasies in genreal like an elephant charging headlong ..... and it is the first god to pray to in a temple .... since its the first chakra.... in such fashion all the chakras have a main god.....eg. shiva being the third eye

then come the deities which take upon the role of a gurdian of the village.... and there are millions of these deities.. which can be likened to the human representation of the universe protecting its own kind..... deities which are violent can be help the hot blooded angry folks relate to them..... (violent deities holding severed heads representing cutting of the ego etc) ..

praying as such brings all 5 senses to use thus reducing distractions through these 5 senes bringing the person to a meditative relatively more silent inner space.....

sometimes the mind grows beyond name and form..... to realised that coming from the universe and sublimating back to the universe they are not seperate from it..... they did not question thier individuality before since they had mental block ..aka ego...the origins of which might have been due to an evolution as a result of increased mental capacity and survival of the fittest......... reducing thier ego and thoughts , they then reach a state of enligtenment and reach oneness with the universe ....... and flow in accordance to the universe.....

as a human its hard to handle living / praying to the universal energy...... even if you do that you still personify that energy ...... hinduism solves all that problem....... just pray to that form..... then start meditating on the form ..... and once you cacth the energy behind the form.... follow the energy and be liberated...... if you that fancies you !!!

it not right to discredit idols as mere imagination.... coz they serve a purpose...... but idols like shiva, krishna ..rama ....all walked the earth..... they were none other than enlightened masters.....normal humans who have shed thier ego and got enlightened..... like the ones you see at kumbha mela..( and the likes of jesus, buddha, mohamad).... with some exaggeration here and there to lure your mind.... coz the truth is you are the so called GOD since you come from it and dissolve in it........
