I was at Korea in aug for 3 weeks. It's nice if you're into scenery, shopping wise is okay. Clothes are on the conservative side cos its their culture, shoes can be nice but costly, accessories are all over and cheap if you hunt around, cosmetics are a must buy cos its so cheap as compared to Singapore... I spent a good 3 digit on that alone.
Dongdaemun opens till quite late and theres lots of small shops similar to bugis village but times more..
Meyong dong is my favourite with lots of stylist clothes and cosmetics.
Shopping centres are big but mostly for branded stuff but you can get nice food at the basement food area.
Most train stations have underground shopping too. You be surprised at what you can find there and prices are cheap.
Food is tough cos you're not sure what you're ordering and not everyone knows how to eat it. Must try is the bbq meat, spicy rice cakes and their sushi rolls.
Better have a good tummy for spicy food. LOL! Other than that, public transport is easy to understand and affordable too.

LOL MamaRos this sounds real weird but i'd love to hv a hubby like yours!
*to self* oei~ wake up deedee! u know it's not possible liao... still think so much. grrrr~
anyway at ya age doesn't mean travel to a lot of places liao... my parents nv sat on a plane b4... i think i better help them apply for international passport soon so they can at least go m'sia... since their m'sia passport expired ages ago. keke~
these days kids are lucky cos the younger parents these days are earning better incomes and also more willing to spend because they themselves want to travel! my bf was teasing me that his 8-year old nephew like been to more places than me... made me upset. cannot compare one wat?! his parents are both young working professionals wor... my parents earning less then 4-digit income leh!! how to afford to fly around?! they themselves also nv travel outta sg + m'sia b4...
i wish one day i can bring them around to see the world... but being the simple, easily-contented and down-to-earth ppl they always are... my parents are not keen. they say no need, stay in sg is good... fly here fly there so troublesome, hv to change currency, hv to pack and unpack, wait got language barrier, dunno wat food to order, etc. if they wanna see overseas scenery watch tv can liao... i think my parents are the last of an extinct species... these days where to find this kinda ppl?!

Yupz, that's true, deedee. You are indeed blessed with very humble parents who are contented with what they have.
There's no shame or disgrace in not being overseas. Some people, like me, loves to travel but some people detests venturing out into unchartered lands.
Deedee, you may feel your family are poor as compared to others but I see your family as being 'richer' - richer in love, richer in joy, richer in dignity. Riches does not just apply to material possessions or those papers we call 'dollars'. Love, joy, dignity are priceless and valuable assets because they add value to life.
Many monetary rich people are not loved, discontented, unhappy and manipulators. For money, they will even destroy people who gets in their way.
Many people travel just to shop. I like to see scenic spots...places where I cannot see duplicated in Singapore.

hee yea MamaRos i always feel that the warmth and harmony in my family compensated for the lack of material wealth and i'm always happy despite but being as well-to-do as many others. but at least now i'm earning quite a decent income... so i'm happy all way round (only unhappiness is my work.)
i like to go to scenic places too. shopping only applies to places where i can find clothes that fit me and fit our weather.
MamaRos i suggest going to Nepal for ya next trip!! last year i went there for trekking with my friends (and met my significant other ) there were 2 aunties in the trip, one is already a grandmother... but they were very ON~~ they didn't join us for the trek because it was too taxing... even "young" ppl like me almost couldn't take it!!! need a lot of strength and endurance.
they stayed in town to go for sightseeing instead for the 3 days we went away for trekking.. otherwise we were together... the aunties even joined us for water rafting! it was very fun indeed... and the scenery is breathtaking!!! it's my best trip so far... and one of the happiest time i spent in life. i'll nv regret going to nepal... where i truly enjoyed and get to know him..
