I have a couple of pals in SP and they say that SP focuses on the gameplay, no pals in NYP/NP in game design so cant comment on those

Well, SP has newer coms than TP I think, although TP ones arent bad either, in TP you can expect in year one simple programming using programs like Alice and Java, Character Design/Storyboarding is also covered, and you are taught Computer Mathematics as well as Computer Systems.
SP from what I heard in year one you do stuff like design board games ( to develop the gameplay or something I guess ) and from what my friends say its largely similar.
Ill help you check about SP, ill grab my TP details book and post it up later

Total SGC$: 72.95 | Re: Which School is best for this? Ok, um TP first
Year 1 : Computer Systems ( Self explainatory )
Computer Math ( Binary, Boolen Algebra etc )
Visual Literacy ( Really a design module, you do stuff like art and storyboarding )
Problem Solving and Programming ( Year one would be Java/Alice )
Year 2 : Can opt to specialize in Programming / Animation & Modelling, otherwise, pretty much same as year one, you'll be starting C++, and maybe a bit of Maya ( Modelling )
Year 3 : Same as year 1 and 2 but you'll be spending most of your year doing your final project ( an actual game or something )
Opportunities : Attachment to EA games, might be sent to many gaming conventions overseas.
-----------------------------------------------
Just gonna quote my friend word for word on SP Quote: |
umm basically we learn all aspect of the process of a game development, from scipting to animation to sound and also stuff like marketing. target for the course is to become game designer, and first year modules are basically creating a non digital and a 2d digital game. learn photoshop, illustrator, flash, html, actionscripting.
| Hope this helps =D
edit : As for cut off point, SP last year was pretty low, I put as first choice, scored 14 and couldnt get in, I think the highest point in my course is 16

But if u want arts, may as well go Laselle? They specialised in arts ma. Logically should be more recognised. |

On LaSelle, isnt it more on contepary ( another word i dunno how to spell ) art and design than anything else? Never really recall reading anything about animaton/game design when sourcing the courses in LaSelle.

Nafa is good at fine arts.
Palin: which is stronger on their chinese painting.
LCE School: Interior Design course
Fashion design: best if you can go to France or Italy to study. |
