Why so many traffic lights?

Sometimes I wonder why the need for so many traffic lights. There is one in almost every junction. I don't know about other people but I think that traffic moves a lot smoother when there are no traffic lights around.

Re: Why so many traffic lights?

I'm with you on this. There is this particular intersection that worked great before someone put traffic lights there and now it's always traffic there!

That's why I try to use expressways as much as possible. Save time and my precious petrol! And easier on my left leg too since I'm driving a manual.

Re: Why so many traffic lights?

It is necessary though. We need traffic lights, especially in areas with heavy traffic during peak hours. I know they cause a lot of inconvenience for us and cause us to be late for appointment, meeting, etc, but I have seen how messy and chaotic the road can be when traffic lights broke down. That's when I thought,"Traffic light sure is important man."

Singaporean drivers cannot live without traffic lights. Once one traffic light breaks down, you will see all the drivers wanting to move, none giving way

Re: Why so many traffic lights?

Sometimes when I'm in a hurry and rushing for time, the traffic lights always happen once every hundred meters, and it takes an eternity for each to get through. It pisses me off bad, really bad.

Re: Why so many traffic lights?

Traffic light is only for our safety. If there has no traffic lights then chances of accident increases. Some time when i m in a hurry then this question is arises in my mind. But when we think then i feel that is only for our safety.
