Re: Windows 8, anyone ?

I've used it for maybe 20 minutes and hated it. I hate having full screen applications (I use 28"+ screens, why dedicate it to one program?). I hate having everything centered for metro. Well, I just hate the whole idea of metro. They made it take 5 times longer to shutdown the computer

Re: Windows 8, anyone ?

Yeah...And it is so different from the older versions of Windows. Hmm, and I suppose it is best for touch screens ?

IMO, is smoother than Windows 7. However, only 50% of my software works without problem.

Re: Windows 8, anyone ?

Probably gonna pass on this version.
Metro simply doesn't seem to fit into PCs imo.

Re: Windows 8, anyone ?

Just bought a Windows 8 PC. My initial impression was that the OS was a nightmare come true. The more I use it, the more pissed off I am. First of all there wasn't even a Start button. So how am I suppose to get to my programs and files? Secondly, I wanted to install the WIFI adapter (the onboard one sucks). But the driver software isn't compatible with Windows 8. So I had to download the latest driver. How am I suppose to download the latest driver without WIFI?

Ok I took all the trouble to find that 10m long ethernet cable stashed in my storeroom for ages. After downloading the drivers, it still wouldn't work! Turns out I needed to update my Windows! Ok, no problem. I can update my Windows. But where is Windows Update??? Took me a LONG while to figure out where the thing is hidden. It was hidden layers upon layers inside the Control Panel.

Suddenly for some reason the desktop switches to that ridiculous App view, choked full of Angry Birds and Cut The Rope apps. I immediately became an Angry Bird and wanted to tie a noose. I started the Store app in hopes of finding some app which will help me with this mess, but none available. I wanted to close the Store app. Oh wait, I can't close it! There wasn't an X button at the top!!

In the end, I just want to pop in a DVD I just bought, hopefully it will help with my increased blood pressure. So stressed out already. I started Windows Media Player and WTF....it CAN'T play DVDs!! It can only play VCDs and CDs! What is this year 1998? That year was the last time I actually used a VCD!

The only redeeming factor is its insane boot time. Took about 10 to 15 seconds to startup, and even shorter time to shut down. But damn it I miss my Windows 7.

I am angry.

Re: Windows 8, anyone ?

I'm getting a Windows 8 Laptop tomorrow and judging by the majority's thoughts and views on this, it seems that I have made a bad mistake. I'm using a Windows 8 phone by the way, so hopefully the simplicity would be recreated on the laptop too.
