Agree wth your points...

If this investment is so good...perhaps SKY should show us more evidences on that. How many of your clients really profited in wine investment?

It is easy to quote from the paper that wine demand is going up thus driving the price up. However, after taking into consideration the shipping cost, insurance cost, storage cost, etc what would be the net return for investor? Also, what is the chances that a broker can't find a buyer after 3 years of storage, and would result in further storage fee and erode the profit?

Perhaps, SKY can provide his professional advise on the above points raised?

Here an article of someone who profited his wines..
http://www.straitstimes.com/Free/Sto...ry_187321.html

its seems to much battle for fine wine investment here, nonetheless i wont entertaint people who totally give negative remarks about wine investment which they think they know more knowledge then me.. *look at the mirror dude*

Lastly all trade of investment there is risk, think about this whether are u a risk taker or not?
If u are not a risks taker, then please put yr funds in the banks..

unless u want to learn more about wine and investment please feel free to ask question then rather bad remarks or negative remarks.. dont be such an ******* here..

Did u get any business from SGC after so long? So u are very knowledgable? Cannot give negative comments abt wine investment? Must agree with u? At first u mention wine investment has no risk, now u mention all investment got risk, so which is which? I am selling the best sword in the world that can cut thru anything, everything. Please buy my sword, at the same time I'm also selling the best amour in the world that can prevent anything from cutting thru. So which one is better? I'm confused.
BTW risk taker or not, we decide how to use our funds, not u.
U use the word bitch on a girl. Do u understand the meaning of bitch or not? Can I use it on ur mum then? So what will you be? son of a XXXXX? Choose ur words carefully. This is a finance forum, be professional down here especially u claim to be a pro but not acting like one.

Agree with you. Need to find out what is the risk involved in monetary term for wine investment. Cannot just blindly invest. Take fund investment as an example, I'm sure the FA would let us know the potential return as well as the possible loss. With that, we can make a decision whether to invest in the fund or not, depending on our risk appetite.

hi,
sorry for the late reply. Never saw this post...lol

First of all, the scheme that I bought the wine is called "En Premier", which is something like buying futures, just that in this case, it is wine futures.
It is a guaranteed return offered by the company, at 18% for 18 months. After which the 18 months is due, the company will buy back the wines from me. There is a certificate given by the company that states that the company will buy back from the investor.

Next, the name of the wine i bought is called "Chateu Lafitte Rothschild 2006". I bought it at $960 per bottle, and I bought 6 bottles. So in total, it cost $5760. This is the amount that I invested in and I should be able to get it back in August next year when the 18 months is due.

This is my first purchase and first investment in wine. So, of course, I would like to start small at just the 5.7k amount. Initially, the wine broker recommended me a portfolio that is a 5-figure sum!!

In the meantime, while waiting for it to reach it's expiry, I am still reading on wine investments and wine appreciation matters...

http://www.decanter.com/

This is the website which I learnt from. Quite a nice read, but just that some of the stuff mentioned are probably too complex...haha

You can check out CrystalWines 2006 En Primeur prices here -> http://www.crystalwines.com/EP/EP06/

You can pretty much buy the 2006 vintage from many merchants. It's not a great vintage to invest with in the first place that why it's so cheap. 2007 is another mediocre vintage and prices are expected to be same or even lower than the 2006.

Go talk to the major wine merchants like Crystals Wines, Vinum, Condale, Wine Culture and do a price check and inventory availability. You want to invest, do some research, dont invest blindly.

Good luck!
