SINGAPORE: Korean girl group Wonder Girls will perform in Singapore on September 8, at the Resorts World Convention Centre's Compass Ballroom, as part of their Wonder World Tour.

Korean girl group Wonder Girls will perform in Singapore on September 8.

It will be the quintet's first full solo concert here.

The Wonder Girls is made up of leader Sun, rapper Yubin, and vocalists Yenny, Lim, as well as Sohee.

The girl group made its debut in 2007 and shot to fame with their infectious hit song "Nobody" in 2008.

Incidentally, Cantopop icon Aaron Kwok will also be holding a concert on September 8 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Wonder Girls: From cartoon and movie characters to Singapore Girls, what's next?

Wonder Girls: From cartoon and movie characters to Singapore Girls, what's next?

SINGAPORE: The Wonder Girls, who donned popular cartoon and movie characters' costumes at their Wonder World Tour concert in Korea in July, transformed themselves into Singapore Girls at their Singapore stop on Saturday.

Wonder Girls transformed into Singapore Girls at their Wonder World Tour concert in Singapore. (Parallel Smart Media Asia Alpha Entertainment)

Performing "REAL" and "Be My Baby" in their specially-prepared Sarong Kebayas (an iconic traditional garment often associated with Singapore), the Wonder Girls members, Sun, Yenny, Sohee, Yoobin and Lim, showed that they could still dance effortlessly despite their figure-hugging numbers.

From being all cutesy in their Tinkerbell, Snow White and Harry Potter costumes at their Korea stop, to being all elegant in their Sarong Kebayas at their Singapore concert, what sort of look will the Wonder Girls go for next?

While the girl group was tight-lipped about their upcoming gig in Malaysia, Malaysian Wonderfuls (Wonder Girls' fans) were very vocal about what special costumes they hoped their idols would wear at the concert.

"I hope the girls (Wonder Girls members) can wear our traditional costumes such as Baju Kurung, Cheongsam, Sari, Punjabi or Batik!" said Malaysian fan Lee Yen Chuin through an email interview.

Fellow Wonder Girls fan Hanizah shared her sentiments, adding that those outfits would reflect Malaysia's multiracial society.

Costumes aside, both Lee and Hanizah are also looking forward to see who will appear as the quintet's special guests during the concert, as both their Korea and Singapore stops had featured different guest performers.

"I hope to see 2PM (a Korean boy band) as their (Wonder Girls') special guest for this (Malaysia) stop," said Lee.

"It would be fun to see Wonder Girls and 2PM collaborating on stage, like what they did in JYP Nation (a huge concert which featured JYP Entertainment artistes in Seoul)!" added Hanizah.

Singapore Wonderfuls might not have had the chance to see Wonder Girls and 2PM perform together on the stage, but they did get to see Lim share the stage with label mate, Korean pop duo JJ Project.

Singing, rapping and showing off their brilliant hip-hop and breaking dance moves in "Act Cool", the trio's great energy drove the audience wild with excitement.

Another impressive performance was Sun's cover of Miss A's hit song "Touch".

She showed off her remarkable keyboard skills and powerful vocals in the first half of the track, and flaunted her slick dance moves in the other.

The highlight of the night, however, was definitely the quintet's encore performance of their well-known track "Nobody".

More than half of the 4000-strong crowd rose from their seats and sang and danced along to the tune as though they had committed it to memory.

Nobody but the Wonder Girls could have ended the two-hour concert so beautifully.
